FITNESS
February 2025
Last year the focus was on financial fitness. This year it is on personal fitness and well-being. It is always a personal trek and struggle especially for women mid-way through their journey of life.
The dreaded menopause that nobody prepares us for or openly discusses either is tough. Even our medical research is not focused on women's issues as a standard. It isn't just a women's issue either. Men should be concerned as it may be affecting the woman in your life. This of course will greatly impact your life as well. Every woman will experience it differently and the solutions to resolve and deal with it will also be different.
My experience was elongated due to not understanding what was happening. It started with a frozen shoulder out of nowhere that I ruled off to playing softball in college catching up to me. Many of the symptoms I didn't experience. However, the ones I did were beyond challenging. I experienced chronic fatigue, flashes, weight gain. I could starve and climb a mountain and still not make a dent in my fitness goals. I never assumed it had anything to do with the change of life. It was depressing, frustrating, a lonely spot to be. I also broke my ankle and foot in an accident that did not help the matter either. It did get me to a doctor who took the extra steps to address my concerns. After a battery of tests it turns out my hormones and cortisol levels were the root cause of my issues. These factors shut down my metabolism and added other internal stressors The chronic fatigue and pure exhaustion of running a household, business, day to day life left me feeling depleted due to insomnia. So, lack of sleep and inability to fall asleep make you irritable. Only adding to the weight of the situation.
Once the root cause was revealed we created a game plan and it has turned my life around immensely. So, if you are not sure or suffering from symptoms or failing in your goals seek guidance and solutions. You do not have to accept it as the endgame. It has been 75 days since it has been addressed. I already feel like a new woman! The last 30 days; I have established a routine that works for me to address the only goal-FITNESS!
My plan won't be your plan. I still have a household to manage, business to run but I am now in a better place to achieve my goals mentally and physically, I then started finding things I enjoyed and started planning and achieving!!
I have always been a nature lover. Born on the beaches of Hawaii and California surfing and playing in sand and I still love the outdoors. Give me a cliff to dive off into a pool of water and Iam all over it. I also love the flexibility in doing many different things in my fitness journey plan. I love spontaneity and adventure. However, I do have a standard plan Iam following for a level of consistency.
3 Times a Week - I run with my dogs, I climb a mountain, and take spin classes or cardio dance classes.
4 Times a Week - I do hit the gym to lift weights. It was hard at first but now I have a rythm and always been competitive. This time it is with myself!
Daily _ I stretch and do a meditation listening to escape whether it is for 5 minutes or half an hour. It is great to just enjoy the quiet.

Remember it's a journey and whether you have a good support system or it's just YOU- YOU GOT THIS!
My first 30 days are done and I have lost 12.5 pounds and many inches. BUT DONT FOCUS ON SCALE!!!! I have hiked, climbed, ran over 150 miles. I have completed over 24 classes and weight training sessions. Just keep moving forward and be your greatest support and hero! Don't give up on yourself! My journey is not your journey so seek guidance and discover what you enjoy and need to find success! NEVER give up on yourself. I BELIEVE IN YOU!
It is also okay to fall down sometimes. If someone isn't there to help you get up - YOU DAMN SURE CAN DO IT!
